Description

Been on a galaxy kick lately. It seems that whenever I have a moonless night, I ditch narrowband imaging and take the opportunity to image in LRGB. The Hidden Galaxy is called as such because it sits behind the Milky way dust lanes in the galactic equator. It is 10 million light years away, and relatively bright. Yet it is difficult to image due what the photons traveling from this galaxy have to get through to reach us.

This is one that I will try to add a lot more data when I have another moonless night in the next 4 weeks. Who knows when that will be though. Processing was very difficult for me due to how noisey the data is. Extensive stretches to pull the data blew the core out and was difficult to recover. This galaxy does benefit from Ha data and it enhances the details. Definitely will be revisiting this in the future.
